the use of force
The Use of Force was a very emotional short story. This doctor seems to be sincere in the fact that he want's to help, but obviously has some issues himself. He definitely expressed his anger when he used force to open the girl's mouth because she was being difficult, but he was only trying to help her, when in fact she had diptheria. We also have to take into consideration that he didn't know this family before hand, and the parents were nervous from the start, making the child even more nervous, along with the doctor.

Reviewing the study sheet will give you some suggestions--also, read other blogs and my comments.
ReplyDeletei feel the say way. you cant really enjoy the story because your thinking too much of wat they are actually talking about. the author isnt clear of the situation that is going on and doesnt tell the complete ending therefore your left hanging.
ReplyDeleteTry to get beyond the literal level of the narrative: consider the psychological implications of some of the images and actions/interactions, and consider how this story exposes the limits of/critiques scientific objectivity
ReplyDeleteBTW-- the other two comments above seem to be referring to HLWE; not sure how they got posted here...
